Published on November 28, 2012, the concise and scientifically up to date report details known uses, hazards and associated risks relevant to the insurance industry. Product liability claims, for example for bisphenol A (BPA), are mentioned explicitly. The CRO Forum is an association of large multi-national insurance companies bringing together Chief Risk Officers of member organizations. Its focus lies on best practice in risk management, including for emerging risks.

According to The CRO Forum’s publication, EDCs are a truly emerging risk. The report’s authors suggest that insurers institute a dialogue with EDC producing industries. In addition, regulatory agencies and the supply chain should be supported in their efforts to reduce EDC exposures. Overall, the report recommends reducing exposure to EDCs and especially emphasizes their removal from drinking water.
