Of the 246 substances currently monitored under the US National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), 26 are also listed as substances used or authorized for use in food contact materials in Europe and the US. The FPF has compiled a list of all those substances which have been authorized under the EC regulation on plastic materials (EC 10/2011), known to be used in non-plastic food contact materials according to the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA; ESCO WG on non-plastic food contact materials) or are authorized in the US as indirect food additives, Food Contact Substances (FCS) or under the Threshold of Regulation.
