The American Chemistry Council (ACC) has pronounced its support of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Endocrine Disruptor Screening Program (EDSP) in a press release published June 14, 2013. It stresses that the chemicals currently reviewed by the council have not been selected by the EPA due to their endocrine disrupting properties but because of the pesticide registration status or occurrence in drinking water. The ACC further states that Tier 1 assays unable to identify the potential of chemicals to interact with the endocrine system should be revised, and argues that the screening of the top priority List 1 substances should be completed before moving on to List 2 substances with lesser priority.
