According to an article published on April 28, 2014 by the news provider Bloomberg News the Germany based chemical and pharmaceutical company Bayer AG is considering to sell its plastics business. Bayer commenced its retreat from the chemical sector a decade ago focusing more heavily on the drug and life-science business. Bayer’s MaterialScience business is valued at $10 billion USD and consists of the business units coatings, adhesives and specialties,  polycarbonates, and polyurethanes. Bayer MaterialScience denied to comment on the potential sale.
