In an article published on January 16, 2018, the Nanotechnology Industries Association (NIA) informed that Belgium updated its nanomaterial register requiring the registration of mixtures containing nanomaterials as of January 1, 2018. The provisions regarding the registration of nano-mixtures were originally set to enter into force on January 1, 2017, but were delayed by one year. Additionally, cosmetic products are now exempted from registration.

The Belgian nano-register was established in 2014 (FPF reported) and entered into force on January 1, 2016 (FPF reported). It includes exemptions for biocides, medicinal products, food contact materials, and certain agricultural products.
