On November 4, 2013 the German risk assessment institute Bundesinstitut für Risikobewertung (BfR) opened an open online dialogue forum permitting consumers to pose questions regarding hormonally active substances until November 15, 2013. After November 15, 2013 the consumers will be able to vote on which questions they consider most important. In the following, BfR President Andreas Hensel will answer the three most voted questions in a video message. The forum entitled “Hormonally active substances – how hazardous are they?” is the fourth since the online dialogue forum’s establishment in 2011. In its press release, the BfR stresses the difference between hormonally active substances also including phytoestrogens in soy products, and EDCs with explicit adverse effects on the organism.
