As reported in an article published on the online platform WXXI News on March 25, 2014, the advocacy group Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester has received a grand from The New York State Pollution Prevention Institute to educate young women on chemical exposures and breast cancer. The advocacy group will address young women at festivals and health fairs focusing on areas considered high risk, such as nail salons. Endocrine disrupting chemicals which have been associated with breast cancer may be found in cosmetics, pesticides, cleaning agents, and food contact materials.
