In an article published on November 24, 2016 by regulatory news provider Chemical Watch, editor Sunny Lee informed that the National Health and Family Planning Commission of China has published 53 mandatory national standards for food contact materials (FCMs) and additives, replacing all previous regulations and standards. The two most important standards, GB 4806.1-2001 on general requirements and GB 9685-2016 on the use of additives for FCMs, will come into force on October 19, 2017. Among other changes, the declaration of compliance (DoC) and the labeling of food contact are newly required.
