On May 24, 2017 the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) announced the publication of two new and three updated documents providing guidance on various aspects of preparing REACH registration dossiers for nanomaterials.

One of the two new documents is a new “nano-specific” appendix to Chapter R.6 of the Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment. It discusses the use of hazard data among nanoforms and non-nanoforms, as well as within groups of nanoforms, of the same substance. The three updates concern three other appendices in the same guidance document (to Chapters R.7a, R.7b, and R.7c).

The second new document describes “best practices” for dealing with nanoform identification and information reporting in a dossier.
