On September 25, 2013 the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) published a call (pdf) for proposals on the study of implications of the revised guideline on Food Contact Materials (FCM). The draft guidelines are currently discussed by the EFSA Panel on Food Contact Materials, Enzymes, Flavourings and Processing Aids (CEF) and are scheduled for publication in the beginning of 2014. Because the new guidelines are more stringent in terms of exposure scenarios, EFSA considers it necessary to assess the implications by the revised guideline on the requirements for submission of toxicological information and restrictions of use. The call will close on November 5, 2013.
