In an article published on March 6, 2017, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) announced the start of public consultations on two draft guidance documents, one concerning the use of weight of evidence approach in scientific assessments, and another the identification of biological relevance of effects observed in experimental animals and human studies. These two documents complement the guidance on uncertainty assessment, and together aim to “increase the openness, robustness and transparency of [EFSA’s] scientific assessments” (FPF reported).

Written comments on guidance drafts can be submitted until May 1, 2017.
