On September 4, 2015 the Nanotechnology Industries Association (NIA) reported on new guidance issued by Belgium’s Federal Public Service (FPS) for Health, Food Chain Safety and Environment on the registration of nanomaterials. Companies must register all nanosubstances before January 1, 2016 and mixtures containing nanosubstances before January 1, 2017. Nanomaterials released after these dates must be registered before they are put onto the market. Exempted from registration are biocides, medicinal products for human or veterinary use, products intended to come in contact with food, animal feed, and technical aids or other products used for processing agricultural ingredients.
