According to an article published March 27, 2014 on the industry news provider Food Quality News, Nestlé has opened a Nestlé Food Safety Institute (NFSI) in Beijing, China, to provide scientific foundation for food safety policies and standards. As stated by a Nestlé spokeswoman to Food Quality News, Nestlé considers food safety research as non-competitive and hopes that the institute will contribute to increase the competence and insights regarding food safety in China. Currently, the institute does not work at full capacity but engages in a variety of projects related to methods for standards.
