On September 4, 2013 the U.S. National Toxicology Program (NTP) announced the release of draft reports on vinylidene chloride, cobalt metal dust, tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA) and glycidamide in the U.S. Federal Register Vol.78, No. 171. Vinylidene chloride is authorized as a monomer for use in food contact materials (FCM) by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It is used for the synthesis of chloride co-polymers in the production of flexible films for food packaging. The peer review of the four reports published by the NTP is scheduled for October 29, 2013 and will take place at the offices of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, U.S.. After the meeting a report on the peer review will be published on the NTP website. The deadline for registration is October 25, 2013.
