On May 30, 2013 the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) published a patent for “screening for phthalates in food samples”. The patent was filed by Waters Technologies Corporation, U.S. on November 2, 2012. The new patent uses atmospheric pressure ionization (API) source enclosure to ionize food samples and analyzes them for the presence of one or more phthalates.
