At the third international conference on Chemcials Management (ICCM3) in Nairobi NGO delegates agreed to add new measures to the policy framework Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM). Amongst these measures was the addition of endocrine disruptors as an emerging policy issue. The agreement refers specifically to the protection of vulnerable groups such as women and children (SAICM/ICCM.3/3, Art.13).It also foresees the provision of international support for capacity building for the generation of information and for assessing concerns related to EDCs. The conference was supported by a joint UN Environment Programme and the World Health Organisation workshop on the state of the science related to EDCs.
