According to an article published January 30, 2014 by the Nigerian news agent Vanguard Nigeria intends to phase out light weight non-biodegradable plastics, including water sachets and polyethylene (PE) bags. According to an anonymous official, the Nigerian Federal Ministry of the Environment plans to eventually phase out all non-biodegradable plastics in a step-by-step process beginning with light weight plastics.
