In an article published on July 10, 2017, European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) informed that, based on a proposal by Sweden, it has added perfluorohexane-1-sulfonic acid (CAS 375-92-8) and its salts to the Candidate List of substances of very high concern (SVHC) for authorization, due to their very persistent and very bioaccumulative (vPvB) properties.

ECHA further informed that, based on a proposal from France, it has updated the entry for bisphenol A (BPA, CAS 80-05-7) to include endocrine disrupting properties for human health as an additional basis for inclusion on Candidate List. Initially, BPA was included in the Candidate List in January 2016 due to its toxicity to reproduction (FPF reported).

ECHA also similarly updated the entries for four phthalates, benzyl butyl phthalate (BBP, CAS 85-68-7), bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP, CAS 117-81-7), dibutyl phthalate (DBP, CAS 84-74-2), diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP, CAS 84-69-5), following the decision by the European Commission on their endocrine disrupting properties (FPF reported).
