On November 30 – December 1, 2016 the European Food Safety Authority’s (EFSA) Scientific Panel on Food Contact Materials, Enzymes, Flavourings and Processing Aids (CEF Panel) will hold its 65th plenary meeting in Brussels, Belgium. The session on November 30 is open to observers; the session on December 1 will be closed “due to confidential business information/proprietary data.” Items on the draft agenda of November 30 include scientific outputs submitted for discussion and possible adoption, in particular several flavoring group evaluations. Further, new mandates will be presented and feedback will be given from several CEF Working Groups (WGs), such as the WG on recycling plastics, the WG on genotoxicity, and the WG on food contact materials (FCMs). By the end of the session, time for answers to questions from observers is also foreseen. Observers are required to register for the meeting and the deadline for registration is November 8, 2016.

EFSA notes that “agenda items for the closed session will include applications on food enzymes, food flavorings, food contact materials, or recycling processes, and will be added to the agenda by mid-November 2016 following the progress made at the corresponding Working Group meetings.”
