On May 13, 2014 the European Commission’s Directorate-General Enterprise and Industry (DG Enterprise) launched a public consultation inviting stakeholders to submit comments on proposed policy measures aiming at increasing transparency and ensuring regulatory oversight for nanomaterials. The public consultation will feed into a final impact assessment of the different policy options. The options include 1) maintaining the status quo, 2) providing a best practice recommendation for Member States, 3) establishing a European level observatory, 4) creating a European level inventory list of substances, and 5) forming a use focused inventory at the European level (FPF reported). The public consultation will close on August 5, 2014.
