Phoenix completed her BSc in applied mathematics with a specialization in actuarial science at the University of California, Berkeley and holds a masters degree in business administration from the University of California, Los Angeles. During her MBA, she conducted primary and secondary market research to evaluate the feasibility of a Swedish company entering the U.S. cyber security market. Phoenix started her career as a pension actuarial consultant working on statistical models to help companies evaluate financial implications of risks and reviewing pension regulatory documents ensuring compliance. Subsequently, she worked in the data analytics and network functions of health insurance company where she identified trends and provided financial support in hospital negotiation efforts. After her actuarial career, Phoenix continued her study in data science in Zurich and developed a keen interest in natural language processing. She built an active learning based proof-of-concept to identify clinically relevant information from unstructured social media data. Since September 2019, Phoenix has been working for the Food Packaging Forum as a Data Scientist.
