On June 11, 2018, at 03:00 pm CEST (Central European Summer Time), the Food Packaging Forum (FPF) held a public webinar on brand owners’ perspective on chemicals of concern in food packaging.

In March 2018, the Food Safety Alliance for Packaging (FSAP) published a document entitled “Food packaging product stewardship considerations,” featuring a list of chemicals for which a replacement or minimization of use in packaging is recommended (FPF reported). The document is the product of an FSAP food brand owners working group, led by food and drink company Nestlé. The participating companies aimed to provide a list of best practices in a publicly available document for all of the food packaging supply chain to access.

Dr. Stephen Klump, Global Head of Food Contact Material Safety & Compliance at Nestlé Research Center, U.S., gave an overview of the document. Dr. Klump’s talk was followed by an interactive Q&A session.
