On September 24, 2014 the Belgian Official Journal published the Belgian Royal Decree regarding the placement of the market of substances manufactured at the nanoscale. Goal of the registry as outlined in the Report to the King is to ensure that human health is safeguarded while developing nanotechnology.  Further the registry shall allow for the acquisition of better knowledge of the market, of the traceability of nanoscale substances, of characteristics of nanomaterials and of potential exposure risks. Finally, the registry shall be the basis for a database that could support future regulation.
