In an article published on February 24, 2015 by The Wall Street Journal, journalist Alejandro Lazo reports that the ban on single-use plastic bags in California, U.S. was put on hold. The ban, scheduled to start in July 2015, was approved by California Governor Jerry Brown in September 2014 (FPF reported). However, a referendum was later initiated by the ban’s opponents. On February 24, 2015 the California Secretary of State announced that enough voter signatures had been collected to overturn the law. It will now be suspended until the November 2016 election.
