In an article published on August 11, 2015 the Nanotechnology Industries Association (NIA) reported on a new requirement for Canadian nanomaterials manufacturers to provide data on product research, commercial and consumer use, and manufacturing or import quantity. The request was issued by the Canadian Minister of Environment on July 25, 2015. It covers over 200 nanosubstances and applies to manufacturers that produced these nanomaterials in excess of 100 kg in 2014. The requested information must be provided until February 23, 2016. Exceptions apply to nanomaterials that were used e.g. in pest control, fertilizers, or feed.
