On November 7, 2019, law firm Keller & Heckman LLP (KH) informed about a public consultation on a set of food contact substances being held by China’s National Center for Food Safety Risk Assessment (CFSA). The authority is requesting comments on the following substances:

  • Glass fiber (CAS 65997-17-3) for use in polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE; CAS 9002-84-0) plastic
  • Siloxanes and silicones, di-me, me hydrogen, reaction products with vinyl group terminated di-me siloxanes (CAS 156065-02-0) for use in paper and paperboard
  • Polymer of 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-propandiol, ethylene glycol, isophthalic acid, sebacic acid, terephthalic acid, and trimellitic anhydride (no CAS) for use in coatings and coating layers
  • Polymer of ethylene glycol, isophthalic acid, terephthalic acid, dimethyl ester and adipic acid (CAS 82076-71-9) for use in coatings and coating layers
  • 1,3-benzenedicarboxylic acid, polymer with 1,4-butanediol, terephthalic acid, dimethyl ester and hexanedioic acid (CAS 82076-69-5) for use in coatings and coating layers

The comment period is open until November 12, 2019.
