In an article published February 27, 2014 the industry news provider Plastic News reports that the industry group Reusable Packaging Association (RPA) aims to create cleaning standards for reusable plastic containers. The large containers are used to transport produce from farms to retailers. The standards are to be developed by an industry-wide committee to which manufacturers, poolers, distributors, retailers and educators represented by the RPA are invited to join. With this initiative RPA aims to address questions regarding cleaning and sanitation of large reusable plastic containers from retailers and other stakeholders.
