The Swiss Society for Food and Environmental Chemistry is hosting the Swiss Food Science Meeting 2013, which will take place June 27-28, 2013 at the University of Neuchatel, Switzerland. The meeting will focus on non-intentionally added substances (NIAS), which currently present a major challenge for chemical analysis and risk assessment. The meeting will discuss these challenges as well as the possibility to assess the impact of NIAS on food safety. NIAS are substances migrating from the food contact material into food, and which are either break down products, impurities and side products or contaminants from recycling processes. They may arise from printing inks or food packaging materials. The registration deadline for the meeting is April 30, 2013.
