On June 21, 2018, the European Commission (EC) published a roadmap “Towards a more comprehensive EU framework on endocrine disruptors.” As outlined in the roadmap, the EC plans to issue a “Communication” that will “present the comprehensive framework of EU policies on endocrine disruptors, in the context of [the EC’s] . . . continued commitment to protect EU citizens and the environment from dangerous chemicals.”

In particular, the EC wants to “provide a comprehensive picture of where we stand today, highlighting the different facets of the issue and taking stock of the progress achieved in the EU in the past twenty years as regards scientific knowledge, policy and legislation and international cooperation.” Further, the Communication will “outline areas where further action would need to be taken in the future,” including such types of actions as “addressing the gaps in knowledge,” “linking science and regulation,” “cooperating on the global scene,” and “look[ing] into communication activities that could be carried out both at EU and national level to provide to citizens the information and advice they need on endocrine disruptors.”

The public consultation is open until July 19, 2018.
