On August 7, 2014 the European Commission granted the first authorization under REACH to Rolls-Royce for the use of di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP; CAS 117-81-7) in the manufacturing of aircraft engines. DEHP was previously placed on the REACH authorization list of substances of very high concern (Annex XIV). The authorization will be reviewed by 21 February 2022. Seven further applications for authorization of DEHP are still pending. Under European FCM legislation, the use of DEHP as plasticizer is currently authorized.
