On July 25, 2018, the European Container Glass Federation (FEVE) reported that “glass packaging production in Europe increased by 2% in weight terms and 2.4% in unit terms in 2017.” According to FEVE, “[t]his result confirms the steady growth trends of the last years driven by exports as well as continued demand for glass packaging in food and beverage segments in Europe.”
Further, on July 19, 2018, FEVE informed about a recent survey by the campaign Friends of Glass finding that “three out of four Europeans rate glass as the most ocean-friendly packaging choice.” Accordingly, “72% [of survey participants] now consider their impact on the ocean as a lifestyle priority, starting with the products they buy and how they are packaged.”
