In a press release from October 10, 2014 the Danish Ministry of the Environment announced a new initiative called KemiWatch (“ChemicalWatch” in English). The newly established center will be part of the Danish Consumer Council and it will offer chemical tests and information to consumers on how to avoid potentially harmful chemicals and consumer products containing such substances. The center will offer information via its website and an information hotline for consumers.

Anja Philip, Chairwoman of the Danish Consumer Council, stresses in the press release that the KemiWatch center will also provide valuable information to industry and politicians, enabling them to use this information to deliver safer products and improve regulation.

The Danish Ministry of the Environment will fund the project from 2014 to 2016.
