On November 25, 2015 the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE) updated its website. In the subsection ‘Food contact materials’ under the segment ‘Consultation’, a description of the ‘Technical expert group on food contact materials’ and a summary of the group’s latest meeting has been made available. The group consists of experts of European stakeholder associations and observers from Member States. A major objective of the meetings is “to help reducing burden to business operators”, as is stated on the website.

Additional new information can be found under the segments ‘Non-harmonised’, where information is given on food contact materials (FCMs) with no EU-wide, specific measures, and ‘Authorisations’, where the procedure for approval of specific FCM substances is explained falling under EU-wide regulation.
