On December 12, 2014 the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) announced that the scientific opinion on the risks to public health from bisphenol A (BPA) in foodstuffs was finalized and adopted. EFSA carried out a thorough consultation and engaged with national authorities and stakeholders (previously reported on by the FPF) to ensure consideration of a wide range of scientific views and information. The EFSA Panel on Food Contact Materials, Enzymes, Flavourings and Processing Aids (CEF) adopted the opinion during the plenary meeting held on December 10-11, 2014. The opinion will be published by the end of January 2015.
