On November 16, 2018, the European Food Safety Authority’s (EFSA) Panel on Food Contact Materials, Enzymes and Processing Aids (CEP Panel) published the minutes of the third and fourth meeting of its Working Group (WG) on BPA reevaluation. The meetings were held on October 25 and 31, 2018, respectively, in Parma, Italy.

During the third meeting, the WG’s subgroup on immunotoxicity and metabolic effects discussed “the results of the pilot study appraisal and the outcome” of testing the methodology developed for the safety reevaluation of bisphenol A (BPA, CAS 80-05-7). “[F]inal conclusions on this exercise” were postponed until the next meeting of the full WG.

During the fourth meeting, the WG again discussed the results and outcome of the pilot study appraisal as well as “the approach for appraisal of the studies and data extraction.” Further, [“i]ndividual tasks and deadlines were assigned to the WG members.”

The next meeting of the WG is scheduled to be held on December 10, 2018, by phone conference.
