On February 18, 2019, the European Food Safety Authority’s (EFSA) Panel on Food Contact Materials, Enzymes and Processing Aids (CEP Panel) published the minutes of the third meeting of its Working Group on Food Contact Materials (WG-FCM). The meeting was held on January 24 and 29, 2019 via phone conference.

During the meeting, the WG-FCM discussed five mandates received from the European Commission at the end of December 2018 to update the risk assessments of FCM substances N,N-bis(2-hydroxyethyl)alkyl(C8-C18)amine, N,N-bis(2-hydroxyethyl)alkyl(C8-C18)amine hydrochlorides,  untreated wood flour and fibers, styrene, and methacrylic acid, 2,3-epoxypropyl ester. An additional mandate is to prioritize the need to re-evaluate substances without a specific migration limit as listed by Regulation EU 10/2011. This 3rd meeting aimed to identify and discuss possible issues in preparation of the next CEP Plenary meeting (held on February 5-7, 2019) where the Panel planned to discuss these mandates before acceptance.

The next meeting of the WG-FCM is scheduled to be held on March 12-14, 2019.
