On January 13, 2017 the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) opened a call to its registered stakeholder organizations for nominating experts to the Consultation Group, which shall support the drafting of a guidance document on identifying endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) in pesticides and biocides. The guidance is being developed by a task force of scientists from EFSA and the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), with support from the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC). The task force held a kick-off meeting in October 2016 (FPF reported) and published an outline of the guidance in December 2016 (FPF reported). The Consultation Group is currently being set up and will comprise “members of ECHA’s Endocrine Disruptor Expert Group and pesticide experts selected by EFSA from EU Member States and from among its registered stakeholders.” EFSA stakeholder organizations can submit nominations until January 31, 2017.
