On July 10, 2014 the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) published a press release disclosing plans on how it will strengthen its risk assessment process. According to the announcement, EFSA will roll out a series of initiatives including clarification teleconferences with applicants, increasing use of technical hearings and the information of applicants on the publication of relevant scientific opinions. Further, EFSA will create a web-overview of plenary meetings of panels for regulated products, launch an online newsletter on regulated products and carry out satisfaction surveys. The initiatives shall improve the service provided by EFSA and streamline the risk assessment process.
