In an article published on April 26, 2018, regulatory news provider Chemical Watch informed that the European Commission (EC) “has identified dicyclohexyl phthalate (DCHP) as an SVHC because it is toxic for reproduction category 1B (REACH Article 57 (c)) and has endocrine disrupting properties with probable serious effects to human health (Article 57 (f)).”

In 2017, the proposal to identify DCHP (CAS 84-61-7) as an SVHC was approved by the EU Member States (FPF reported). Following the EC’s decision, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) is expected to add this chemical to the Candidate list in summer 2018.

DCHP is listed in the FACET inventory of food contact materials (FCMs) and in the ESCO working group list of non-plastic FCMs.
