In an article published on February 23, 2016 by the news provider Chemical Watch, editor Geraint Roberts informs that France intends to propose bisphenol A (BPA, CAS 80-05-7) as a substance of very high concern (SVHC) under the European regulation on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH). The REACH competent authority of France has submitted a notification of intention to the registry of intention (RoI) of the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) on February 8, 2016. The submission of the actual proposal to add BPA to the Candidate List is expected by August 2016. The reasons for inclusion of BPA on the Candidate List will cover carcinogenic, mutagenic, and reprotoxic (CMR), as well as and endocrine disrupting (ED) properties.
