On November 9, 2020, the University of Torino with support from the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) will launch a free online course entitled “Consumers and Environmental Safety: Food Packaging and Kitchenware.” The five-week course is developed to inform a broad audience interested in learning about the safety of food and drinks as well as “the potential health risks derived from packaging and contact materials.” Topics that will be covered include (i) “potential risks for global health and for the environment derived from packaging,” (ii) how scientific research contributes towards safer food, (iii) the measures put in place by industry, governments, and the EU for safe food packaging, and (iv) the role consumers play to improve safety and how information and communication technologies can help consumers in their daily choices.
