On April 15, 2016 the EU Reference Laboratory for food contact materials (EURL-FCM) of the European Commission’s (EC) Joint Research Centre (JRC) published a guidance report on the characterization of the composition of a multilayer plastic film for food packaging. The report provides background information on the general composition of multilayer plastic packaging, a detailed description of the separation of layers, as well as some concrete examples for actual laminates.
