On May 30-31, 2018, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) will hold a stakeholder workshop on the possible restriction of intentionally used microplastics in consumer and professional products under REACH. At the workshop, the outcome of ECHA’s call for evidence on the topic will be discussed (FPF reported). Key issues to be addressed include: i) Definition of microplastic particles, ii) hazard and risk of microplastics in the environment, iii) scope of the restriction, and iv) impacts on society.
