A Swiss food packaging manufacturer modified the composition of more than 20 products in order to comply with EU Regulation 10/2011, which sets tighter rules for migration testing than the previous Directive 2002/72/EC. The new standard also requires the provision of a Declaration of Compliance (DOC), which allows full traceability of the product. Until 2014 it is allowed to sell non-compliant articles, which were placed on the market before January 1, 2013. However, after January 1, 2014 only products compliant 10/2011 may be sold. The materials meeting the new standard include polyethylene (PE) as well as polyether ether ketone (PEEK).
