In an article published on May 24, 2016 the Nanotechnology Industries Association (NIA) informs that the two-year ‘moratorium’ on updates of guidance documents for the regulation on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) does not apply to certain guidance regarding nanomaterials. The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) had announced the moratorium in March 2016, however specified which guidance documents will still be updated before the 2018 REACH registration deadline. For the guidance documents on nanoforms, information requirements for nanomaterials for the environment, and read-across for nanoforms drafts are expected in May/June 2016 and final versions by May 2017. The guidance on information requirements for nanomaterials for human health has already been released in January 2016.
