On April 9, 2015 Woodhead Publishing released a new book entitled “Global legislation for food contact materials” edited by Joan Sylvain Baughan of Keller and Heckman LLP. The book reviews the main food contact materials (FCMs) used in terms of the global legislation in place. Part one provides an overview of food contact legislation issues such as chemical migration and compliance testing. Further, it discusses trends in global food packaging regulation. Part two details the legislation for specific FCMs (plastics, regenerated cellulose, rubber, paper and card) and their advantages, hazards and use in industry. A U.S. regulatory perspective on multilayer food contact articles and global legislation for active and intelligent packaging materials are also covered.
