A new book entitled “Toxicants in food packaging and household plastics – exposure and health risks to consumers” edited by Suzanne M. Snedeker, independent consultant, was published by Humana Press. The book shall provide a comprehensive resource on toxicants that may leach from food contact materials (FCMs) and household plastics. It addresses sources and levels of chemicals exposure, known and suspected health effects, and identifies current data gaps. Chemicals covered in the book include bisphenol A (BPA), perfluorinated chemicals (PFCs), phthalates, brominated flame retardants, heavy metals, nanomaterials, benzophenones, antimony and nonylphenol.
