The Flavours, Additives, and food Contact materials Exposure Tool (FACET) is a probabilistic model estimating exposure to food contact substances from primary packaging. The new tool allows users to model human exposure to more than 6000 food contact contaminants based on European dietary consumption data and migration models. The migration models were developed based on substances’ physical and chemical properties. The models thus allow predicting the migration of contaminants from food contact materials into food.
