On December 4, 2014 the Food Packaging Forum published a new background article on plastic recycling in the context of food contact materials (FCMs). The article addresses different steps in the recycling processes and legal requirements that have to be fulfilled for recycled plastic to be used in FCMs. Further, market and recycling data and safety issues are discussed. A special focus is given to the recycling of polyethylene terephthalate (PET).
