A recent FPF report summarizes important issues about silicones in food contact materials (FCMs). Silicones are a highly versatile class of polymers. Silicone-based FCMs include fluids, rubbers and resins. Further, silicones are used as additives in plastic. The report covers the areas of application and current regulations and reviews results on migration, exposure, and toxicology of silicones.
